2006-5-20: It's the site's 7th Anniversary! I'm looking forward to
finishing the new site this year, and thanks to all these people who contributed
last year:
2006-5-9: Well, it's that time of year again: E3 is here, and so are
the new Mario games! This year's titles include:
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy - A 3D Mario platformer that takes place in outer space!
DS: Yoshi's Island 2 - The first "true" sequel to the 10 year old platformer.
DS: Mario Hoops 3 on 3 - Basketball, Mario style.
DS: Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis - The sequel to GBA's take on the classic Donkey Kong games.
GameCube: Super Paper Mario - A 2.5 D Mario platformer in the Paper Mario style.
An interesting lineup! Other Wii titles include Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, a
newly-enhanced Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess, sequels to Fire Emblem and
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, a Dragon Quest spin-off, and Ubisoft's new FPS
game, Red Steel.
2006-5-6: First, we're finally adding the Koopalings! The first two
are Ludwig von Koopa and Larry Koopa!
We also have Fake Door from Luigi's Mansion.
Jimmy wrote all the pages, Justin converted them to html, and Zargon supplied
the awesome picture for Ludwig.
Also this month, one new link - Jarek's Killer website.
I have totally updated the Podobo
page with new info and pictures from Super Princess Peach and Yoshi's Story,
and fan art by Orange Podoboo.
The fan art extravaganza continues with some cool homemade Paper Mario sprites from
Yosh Master, some Flurry fan art from Majin
Picollo, and Bowser fanart from LuigiMario17.
LuigiMario17 also provided an update to his Mario & Luigi font!
2006-4-22: PM Master offers a fanart of Bonetail, and I've got some official
art of Boo (from Super Mario Sunshine) and
Fire Bros. (from Super Mario Bros. 3). Also,
if you are on DS WiFi, Zargon has posted his friends codes on the
Staff page.
2006-4-9: This month we have four new monsters: Uncle Grimly,
from Jimmy Piranha and Zargon, Popple, from
Boo Buddy Justin, Dull Bones, from ShyGuy,
and Corkpedite, from myself.
Also this month, a new Chuck Quizmo fanart
from Majin Piccolo and a great looking Mario & Luigi font
from LuigiMario17!
2006-3-25: Mini-update: new link, a Paratroopa trophy from Mario Fan Z, a Petey Piranha update from Jimmy, and some new sounds for King Boo from Jimmy as well.
2006-3-11: To celebrate the release of Super Princess Peach, I have a
partial enemy list for the game
listed in the game section of the Monster Archives. If you go there, you'll see
the game features a lot of classic enemies! I've also added a couple of new
links: one to Retroscene, a retro game seller
out of the UK, and one from Gamefly, which is working with our new sponsor.
If you're interested, click on them and help us pay for our server!
Three new monsters: Boomerang Bros. by
Jimmy Piranha and Shyguy, Doopliss by Boo
Buddy Justin, and Tanoomba written by Jimmy
Piranha and drawn by Zargon.
There are also two new pieces of fanart: a Koopa
from Dark Shyguy and a really nifty piece featuring several characters from
Myk. I also updated the Mock Up page, thanks to a reader
that noticed some mistakes.
2005-7-23: SPECIAL NOTE: Anyone who has written a monster page for
the site over the years, please
I completely missed the site's 6th birthday! Well, we're
now about 6.3 years old, and I'd like to thank these contributors from last year:
Jimmy Piranha
Andy Webb
Alex Jaffe
NESBoy
Alex Ericson
David Boggs
mastergoober
N-P
Alex
Kerry Daniszewski
Koenvb
shyguy
Zeus Koopa
The Martrix
Stardoom
Lisa
Carlos Goomba
shyfawfulguy
Sorry if I missed anyone! There's also one piece of new Spear Guy
art from Koenvb this week.
2004-10-16: Contributor Martrix brings us a page for Buster Beetle and Luke Webb has a piece of fan art for Bowletta! I've also updated Piranha Plant with a bunch of new evolution information and a couple of pictures. Special note: last week's two new monsters were the 300th and 301st to be added to the compendium! That's counting monsters like the Koopa Bros. as four separate monsters.
2003-11-28: Here's a special note: As of last week, there are 200 monsters
in the compendium! I would have mentioned it last week, but it snuck up on
me because the Koopa Bros. make four new monsters even though they share the
same page. Monster 201 is Jagger from Super
Mario RPG. I hope to add some Mario & Luigi info to the site soon!
Also this week, a new link (plus a couple of other
changes to the links section), and some new Paper Mario quotes and background
info for Bob-omb! I also made minor changes
to Wanderin' Goom, Spear-Mask and Bandana Red.
2003-11-14: Phew! I ran into some problems and had to switch servers.
It took me two weeks, but I finally have the site up and running again! Welcome
to our new home at mariomonsters.com!
For this week, I'm adding the Toadstool Clone from
Super Mario RPG plus some new artwork for Wanderin' Goom.
and a small update to Belome. Goomba contributes
one new piece of fanart, appearing on the Bandana Red
and Spear-Mask pages.
Last but not least, there are also two new pages in the links section:
Yoshi
Stadium Central, and Enter
The Cube. I will be fixing broken links and images throughout the day,
so don't worry if you find a page that isn't working right, I'm probably
already working on it.
2003-6-13: BIG UPDATE! As you've noticed by now, the site has a new
home here at mario.blasphemountain.com. The new site comes with plenty of new
content too!
Christian has added Piantas to the new site.
I've added some new graphics, plus new pictures for Gorgon
and Greaper; updated information and battle
strategies for Belome; and totally revamped
pages for Bill Blaster and
Bullet Bill, including Paper Mario and Super
Mario Sunshine strategies and evolution and new screens!
2003-5-14: Tomorrow is the site's fourth anniversary! I'd like to celebrate
by taking a moment to recognize the volunteers who have helped the site this year:
First and foremost, thanks to Alex Jaffe and Christian Guzman,
the regular site contributors, they've helped out so much! The site wouldn't be
anywhere near as good without them. Also this year, I've had some help from:
2002-12-9: Since very few Mario games have points anymore, I've decided to
combine Experience Points, Star Points and regular points all under the "Points"
heading on new monster pages. I will also make this change to older monsters,
but it will take some time.
This week Alex Jaffe created a page for one of Wario's enemies, Giant Spear Man
and I have some small additions to the background of Birdo;
thanks to site visitor EDcrow who pointed out the missing info.
2002-10-21: Alex has been contributing to the site so long, I wanted to make
him an official staff member . So head over to the brand-new staff page
to congratulate him.
Also this week, Pirate Goom joins the compendium,
thanks to Alex, and Goomba gets a new screenshot
from Mario Party 4.
2002-10-7: This is a very special update, as this week we celebrate the 100th
unique monster to join the compendium! Thanks to Alex Jaffe, who did
the page for our 100th character, Wanderin' Goom
from Wario Land!
To celebrate, I also have major updates to Koopa Paratroopa
and Bob-omb including quotes, strategies and
pictures from Paper Mario and Super Mario Sunshine!
2002-7-1: Zeostar takes a trip from Super Mario RPG to the compendium, and Mastadoom gets a tiny new screenshot. Also, I'd like to thank all my visitors for putting the Mario Monster Compendium up over 20,000 hits! Yay for visitors!
2002-6-3: This update marks a special occasion...I am adding Bloobers to the compendium, and that completes all of the monsters from the original Super Mario Bros! I also have a new render of Starslap available today.
2002-5-15: To celebrate the site's third anniversary
I'd like to take a moment to thank all of the people who have contributed to it!
Here they are, in no particular order:
1999-5-15: The Official Site Opening is Today!
1999-5-13: Started Beta version of the site.
