BACKGROUND:
When Cranky Kong was young, he caused Mario quite a bit of trouble, especially when he kidnapped his then-girlfriend Pauline. He threw Barrels at the portly not-yet-a-plumber. Why? BARRELS ARE PWNAGE! Don't deny it, you know it's true.
Even burning them would do something cool. Because fire is pwnage too. And when barrel meets fire, trouble bugs were created. These are not bugs at all. Unless, y'know... their bugs on fire. Like maybe there were termites in the barrels that caught on fire and were tough enough to survive. Like all bugs, they can be squished however.
