WEAKNESSES: None in particular.
Shy Guys are the backbone of the 8-Bits Club, a group of (cute little) mercenaries that always wear masks, and hire themselves out to various villains. While there is no proof, many people suspect that Shy Guys were hired by Smithy during his invasion to infuriate the native creatures
of Rose Way. Smithy was known to hire other 8-Bits members.
Shy Guys have also been hired by Bowser and Wart at one time or another. They are not very powerful, but they follow the "strength in numbers" rule, attacking in large bands.
They are also valued for their ingenuity. Unlike most of the other monsters that Mario and company have faced, Shy Guys are always inventing new weapons and vehicles to help them in battle. For details, see the "inventions" section below.
Shy Guys first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2, where they were squat little fellows with huge masks. They cam in several colours in this game,
They're probably best known for being red or sometimes pink.
They returned in Super Mario World 2 and Super Mario RPG, where they became a little bit thinner, but remained essentially the same. In Yoshi's Island, they came in red, green and yellow. In Super Mario RPG, they were strictly red. As you can see from the pictures above, they also became a bit rounder.
In Yoshi's Story, Shy Guys were much rounder, and they came in red, green, blue, yellow, black and white. The white one is actually friendly, and will rescue one Yoshi for you. The others are bad to the bone, though, so eat 'em or beat 'em.
