BACKGROUND:
Bugaboom is a giant green Mandibug that has a flat back instead of a round one. Bugaboom was ordered to attack the Honeyhive Galaxy and occupy it for Bowser.
Bugaboom aquired Mandibugs to attack the Queen Bee and her Bees. The Mandibugs accepted Bugaboom as their leader because of his enormous size. Yet Mario defeated Bugaboom, claimed a Star, and the Mandibugs ran away.
In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Bowser gave Bugaboom one last chance in Puzzle Plank Galaxy. He battled Mario on a planet almost exactly like his previous one and was defeated by Mario's ground pound, like before. Bugaboom was defeated again, quit working for Bowser, and made peace with the Bees. They now live together and Bugaboom's Mandibugs act as bodyguards for the Queen Bee and her Bees.
